Research fields: Dynamical systems: orbits, collective effects,\r\nN-body models, gravitational instability, collisions, galaxy versus galaxy\r\ninteractions, energy and angular momentum dissipation, gas recycling. Kinematics:\r\nsolar vicinity, our Galaxy, O, B, A stars, star-forming regions, molecular\r\nclouds, Gould\'s belt. Interstellar Medium: HI, molecular clouds, star formation,\r\nOB associations, supernova remnants, expanding supershells.

1972 graduated\r\nfrom the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University,\r\nPrague, 1977 PhD in astronomy, 1993 DSc in astronomy, 1994 Assistant Professor\r\nat the Charles Univerity, since July 1996 Director of the Astronomical\r\nInstitute, Professor at the Charles University.
