I'm a radio astronomer researching galaxy evolution. I use neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) data, primarily from Arecibo through the AGES and WAVES projects, which reveals how the gas content of galaxies varies in different environments. Of particular interest to me are optically dark HI structures (including tails produced by tidal encounters and ram pressure stripping), especially features which resemble galaxies but have no visible stellar component. On occasion I've been known to use numerical simulations to study how such features may form and evolve.
Besides research, I provide user support to ALMA users as part of the Czech ALMA node, and I also develop software for visualisation and analysis of 3D radio data sets.
